Things Autumn Loves When Traveling!

Nalgene Bottle (or similar): This bottle is indestructible. You can fill it up at the hotel in the morning and always have something to drink with you. The bottle also clips to your backpack/daypack for your convenience and comes in lots of colors! And yes, the water IS safe in the U.K. and Ireland. Pick one up at Target or REI.
Tide Sink Packets: These three little packets mean you can wash clothes in a sink and hang them to dry overnight. A great investment when we only get one big night of laundry during the entire 3-week trip! You can find these in the travel-size cosmetics section at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Roll-Up or Zip-off Pants: These are an amazing buy because it's like having two pair of pants in one. Girls usually feature the roll up style, while boys are usually zip-off...they zip to capri length or shorts from long pants. Multiple colors are available. I found these at Old Navy.
Pack-It Cubes by Eagle Creek: Amanda and I have several of these. The basic idea is that you can roll clothes inside them and have one for pants, one for shirts, one for underwear, one for socks, etc. Then, they all fit neatly inside your suitcase and help you stay organized while moving from hotel to hotel. They are available in various sizes to accommodate all of your packing needs. REI is where I've found them the cheapest.

Travel Umbrella: Let's face it. We're going to be in the U.K. where it rains just about every day. So a travel umbrella or rain jacket are absolutely necessary. The smaller you can pack it, the better. This umbrella is about 12 inches, but I have seen some smaller. Pick one up at Target or REI. Check out thin rain jackets at REI or City Sports (at Atlantic Station) that can roll up small enough to put in your carry-on.

That's it for travel gear tips today! More to come!
